Great Central - Saturday 9th July 1966.

Although there are plenty of photos of Great Central steam from earlier years, by the time we first used a tape recorder on the route the diet was strictly Black 5s. On recording A) listen for the signal returning to danger.

Actual cheap day return ticket used on the day of the recordings - cost 11/6d.Saturday 9th July 1966.

The recordings are:

45292 is ready to depart north from Woodford Halse.  Less than 2 years before the derelict area in front of 45292 was a mass of marshalling yards for the then heavy freight traffic, complete with a large locomotive depot.A) 44941 departing Aylesbury for Marylebone.

B) 44941 heading south from Brackley (on train recording).

C) 45292 departs north from Woodford Halse.
